Some help appreciated please

Post by Mack »

Well i have 2 question.

1. Where can I download the latest version of ModphpBB? I see 1.0.5 in the downloads link, but that says BETA and has been updated for months.

2. Can some link to me all the styles edited for this? Surely the 3 in the forum are not the only 3.

It's labelled Beta as some of the mods used are in Beta stage. It would be wrong to call an install stable when any of the script is in fact in beta, although the phpBB is stable.

There are only 3 styles so far ported and that's probably how it will stay until the next release and with phpBB 3.2 on the horizon, it will be a brand new package. The would be no point in adding mods to 1.0.5 version.

The latest phpBB is 3.0.4, therefore 1.0.5 is the latest.

Could you not release this modified phpBB SE style?

You mean for the modded phpBB or as a general phpBB style release?

For the modded phpBB, i like this style and is perfect for what i need it for :).

Btw, when i tried installing, i get a fatal error saying that ./cache/, ./store/ etc etc are not writable. I have set them to 755 and it still says this.

When I set them to 777 it works. Is this a security threat?

This style has edited core phpBB files so would be quite hard to release for any board. The random headers wouldn't work etc.

Shoudn't be a security threat, thats just how some servers are set up. Some won't accept a 755. It depends on what files and directories have 777 and the cache should be safe enough.

Could I get it? I wouldn't mind about the rotating banner, 1 would do me fine!

It was just the cache folder, set it to 777 and it worked. Great !

Sorry just noticed, all the folders you told us to set to 755 in the installation post are all 'Not Writable' on my forums.

Example: The entered path “images/avatars/upload” is not writable.

The style would be piss easy to do, I just mucked about with it for a while and still changing bits here and there. It's only Prosilver Special Edition. Actually it was started before that when I saw Pro Grey, changed some css, added the header and used bits from ProNight and buttons from Proformall as well as moving the profiles on the left instead of prosilver default right.

That again needs to be 777 then. It's how your server is set up.

Yeah I will set the folders to 777, I just don't want it to be any security threat.

I know what you mean with 777's, but it's how some servers are set up and with those directories should be safe enough.

Just remove the <-- include -->'s and links, 2 minute job.

If you don't mind me saying, it's pretty clear what is added on there which you would have seen before installing it.
