Bot that posts when a release is made.

I have searched and searched. I understand its down to the submit form auth settings etc. But I've never fully grasped just how it's done.
I'm specifically referring to these "Bots" That update forums or posts upon a release on various sites. (example. the ModBot here) I know they aren't full-on bots that do all of these things 100% on their own. Don't get me wrong. I get that. I've looked all over these forums the closest I ever get is the Post Bot mod. which is useful but I need something that performs this specific action I've stated, a tutorial anything would do fine.

Most of the time it is just people that make the post then just change the author in the MCP, but if you want a post bot go to phpbb.com and search for post bot mod. I've had it installed before and it's ok!
